Once again, I find myself sitting in the office, located on the second floor of an industrial building that was once some sort of factory. If I'd shout his name three times in this room, he would appear right in front of me. A sigil, a portal, a medium materialising out of thin air. When you come in contact with him he is opening up a new dimension of existence. Intriguing for some indeed.
I have been commissioned to design symbolic and linguistic elements to unleash this latent energy. My task is to construct a technologically mediated environment for a ritual which centers around him as a container of energy.
By playing with the visual appearance and distortion of reality through technology means the cracks of reality should widen and nurture the ground for something new which eventually will be set free by the ritual. Everything that will occur during the ritual has been clearly planned and structured for the moment he appears: Someone will brush past him and open a packet of Cheetos; the crumbs scattering over his head will release the energy contained within him. This ritual will create the right kind of impact at the right time and in the right place, thereby unleashing unformed energy and triggering a chain reaction with unknown consequences. The person I am working for has a clear vision of the reality he wishes to realise. He is hoping to bring forth a new project commission from an influential client.
